Welcome to the Heartbreak Hotel!
Dear guests, dear friends,
my name is Erik, I am your future host, and I was born and raised in Germany.
In 2024, I set down new roots in Norway, and at the beginning of 2025, I took over the “Heidal Hotel.”
In the future, the plan is to fully resume hotel operations. Until then, however, some renovation work is still underway.
With the renovation and restoration of the entire third floor as well as the kitchen, I will be offering Bed & Breakfast only throughout 2025/2026. The restaurant service will be temporarily closed, but I am working with a nearby restaurant that you can always visit as an alternative.
Please note that during the low season, from September 1st to March 31st, our reception is not staffed continuously. If you have booked a room, I kindly ask you to let me know your preferred check-in time in advance—either by phone or email. In addition, there will be no breakfast service offered during this period, except for larger group reservations. However, right next to our house you will find a bakery that is open year-round and provides you with a great alternative. Thank you for your understanding!
What awaits you is a lovingly restored country hotel from the 18th century – featuring a spacious Country Bar (open every Friday and Saturday) and a dreamy outdoor area for endless summer nights and cozy autumn evenings by the campfire. Simple, genuine, romantic, and full of stories.
Our 14 rooms have been partially renovated before reopening and are equipped with brand-new, very comfortable box-spring beds, smart TVs, and other amenities – each of them decorated with care. The bathrooms in the rooms remain small and authentic; their renovation is scheduled for a later stage.
In addition, I offer families a truly special stay in our Heartbreak Escapes – beautifully located holiday homes with breathtaking views directly over the Rondane National Park. These holiday homes were completely renovated back in 2024 to provide you with everything that should never be missing from a vacation: peace, comfort, privacy, and an unforgettable view over Otta.
